Bi-monthly sessions at Paddock Art Studios in Lewes for practicing artists. The next session will take place on Saturday 1st February

2 - 4 (optional) Developing your work, sharing ideas & conversations about art practice

An adventure into experimental and playful approaches to drawing with a life model. Untutored & peer led. A chance to play and experiment alongside other artists and to have the chance to make your own suggestions for the group.  Small group, max 8 artists + the model.

Opening to our senses can undoubtedly stimulate our creative flow. Particular smells bring back childhood memories; music or sounds of nature evoke an ambience we can reflect on with colour, line & shape; touching, seeing & moving connect us to the world around us inviting a personal creative response.

During this course we will play with our responses to the senses, exploring a range of materials, approaches and techniques – drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking. We will gather work through these processes and develop them in exciting and experimental ways. The course is structured with plenty of scope for your unique artistic expression and is open to all levels of prior experience, including none! The key emphasis is on relaxing & dropping into the ‘now’ of the playful creative process. Each session will start with a short guided meditation.

UNO24 FIVE – Birdsong & Flower Moon

I’ve recently joined the Sussex Art Collective and this is the first group show I’ll be particpating in, showing some of my latest mono-prints, inspired by dance and movement. Do pop in if you’re in the area!

The Nature of Dance/Dance of Nature

I am inspired by many things, but nature, dance & music hold the strongest allure and provide the source from which I create my prints.

I walk daily in nature revelling in its wonders. I dance and draw, creating a choreography of marks. I film dancers and draw from the moving images, capturing the forms, rhythms, gestures & structures expressed in the dance as well as the music.

A mono-type is an original one-off piece of work, though it lends itself well to working in series. The process is a magical mix of layering colours, creating expressive marks, using stencils and discovering exciting, often unexpected, results from each pull of the press.

I studied printmaking in Australia in the 90s and have been an artist and art tutor for over 25 years.
